How Aubrey Plaza eye-rolled her way to Hollywood stardom
Aubrey Plaza, widely known for her mastery of deadpan humor, is now shedding her quirky-sidekick image for more profound roles. In a recent Tuesday interview with the Wall Street Journal, Plaza shared a surprisingly relatable experience: forgetting the password to her Max account. However, unlike most of us, this memory lapse led to an unusual outcome—she hasn't watched her own Emmy-nominated performance. Yes, it’s the kind of story that requires a bit of suspension of disbelief.
Plaza, who first gained fame on the sitcom Parks and Recreation, received widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Harper Spiller, a quick-witted employment lawyer, in Season 2 of Mike White’s The White Lotus. The black comedy-drama’s second season earned 23 Emmy nominations, including one for Plaza as Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, and took home five awards.
Yet, despite her critical success, the 40-year-old actress claims she still hasn’t managed to stream the season.
“Honestly, I struggled with opening my HBO Max account when I first tried to watch it,” Plaza confessed. “I couldn’t figure out the password, and I tend to just give up when I hit a roadblock like that. I can’t deal with things like that.”
In her signature dry humor, she added, “I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”
This isn’t the first time Plaza has encountered streaming troubles. Last year, she recounted a similar issue with streaming Bravo’s Top Chef during an interview with Vanity Fair.
